political corridors and among common people. Those opposing the film even filed a petition in the Supreme Court to stay its release. To which the court has now given the answer.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined urgent hearing of a plea seeking a stay on the release of controversial film 'The Kerala Story'. What did the bench say on the ban on the
release Justice K.M. Joseph and B.V. Nagaratna's bench said that the censor board has already cleared the film and the petitioners should challenge the certification of the film
before an appropriate authority. This bench is currently hearing cases related to hate speeches. The bench said that there is a separate procedure for the exhibition of films,
therefore the petition to stay the release of the film cannot be clubbed with hate speech cases. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal and advocate Nizam Pasha urged the bench to hear their
plea saying the film would release on Friday. During the hearing, the bench said, it has passed the certification. We cannot make it a part of the hate speech case. Trailer got 16
million views Pasha, on his part, submitted that the YouTube trailer of the film, which has been viewed 16 million times so far, is the worst example of hate speech and
audio-visual propaganda. You should approach the High Court or any other appropriate forum, but this cannot happen here, the bench told the lawyer. you should go to the high court
The Pasha insisted that he had no time for any further measures. However, the bench refused to entertain the plea against the film. Emphasizing that it cannot tag the petition with
a case of hate speech, the bench orally observed that there is a difference between this and other cases which you have brought to our notice. Why don't you first approach the
concerned High Court? Sibal urged the bench to go through the transcript of the YouTube trailer during the lunch break. Refusing to entertain the petition, the bench said, it has
gone through the process of certification. Unless you challenge the certification, we can't do anything.. You should approach the High Court having jurisdiction. You can't start
